Explain how  economic contexts  shape  independent  films. Refer to  I, Daniel Blake  to support your points. ( 15 marks )  30 minutes Since Independent films aren't made by companies that main focus is to make profit they need to find profit from other sources.  In the case of I, Daniel Blake since the director is well known he was able to get funding from the BFI and BBC. The funding for the film may've had an impact on the content of the film as BBC and BFI like to fund films that are innately  British, niche, culturally significant, educational and show British culture. I, Daniel  Blake does all of these things. I, Daniel Blake is in a different position form most independent films as since the director is a award winner it is easier to get funding for it then it would be for a normal independent film. Curran and Seaton theory is proven with movies like I, Daniel Blake which couldn't be made with...
#1. Schedule vs On-Demand The first major differences between live radio and podcasting is that the scheduling and listening habits will be very different. With live radio, you have a set schedule and you have to stick to that. Essentially, you have to work around a clock-based schedule like this: If your audience tunes in halfway through a show, there is an entire other half of the show that they have missed. This is why, as a live radio presenter, you will often have to re-introduce yourself, the show, the station and the topic of conversation.  With a podcast, your listeners can download or stream the episodes whenever they like so they can fit in their listening around their own schedule. This means there is no need to repeat yourself after the initial introductions as the audience can easily skim back to the beginning if they have forgotten what or who they were listening to.

List and explain the elements that  make   Black Panther   a typical   mainstream film.  GENRE  ( mainstream appeal e.g action, scifi, superhero or niche appeal e.g UK drama )  Black Panther has main stream appeal as it is a super hero, science fiction, action film. These genres are mainstream ad bring in a massive audience and appeal to almost everyone.  NARRATIVE  ( straightforward and clear story with action elements, upbeat ending etc. or experimental structure and downbeat/sad ending ) Black Panther takes the basic plot structure of a marvel film and innovates creating a familiar but different narrative. A main example of this is afrofutrism. Black Panther develops an afro futuristic world in black panther through Wakanda a scientifically advanced African country. The mix of an African country being the main setting for the movie and science fiction...
Harlem Renaissance  The  Harlem Renaissance  was an intellectual, social, and artistic explosion centered in  Harlem ,  Manhattan ,  New York City , spanning the  1918–37 . At the time, it was known as the " New Negro Movement ",  The movement also included the new African-American cultural expressions across the urban areas in the Northeast and Midwest United States affected by the  Great Migration ,  of which Harlem was the largest.  Embracing literary, musical, theatrical, and  visual arts , participants sought to reconceptualize “the Negro” apart from the white  stereotypes  that had influenced Black peoples’ relationship to their heritage and to each other. They also sought to break free of Victorian  moral  values and bourgeois shame about aspects of their lives that might, as seen by whites, reinforce racist beliefs. The Black Panthers The Black Panthers, also known as the Black Panther Party, ...
INTRO TASK : Answer the following questions about Black Panther   1 How does Black Panther fit into the Marvel franchise and universe ? Black Panther is the 18th Movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it follows on from the events of Captain America: Civil War. It fits in as a standalone film but it is very different to the other films in the universe due to the real world themes it deals with like colonialism. 2 What makes it different from other films in the Marvel cinematic universe ? Consider  the narrative of the film , cultural contexts, representations, critical response, range of audiences Black Panther is different from other films as it is representing a fictional African country and therefore is a movie with a mostly black cast. Atari Pong 1972 :   This early console was certainly not the first of its kind   Pong  single-handedly defined the video game industry (and its future) with his ping-pong themed arcade game. Named after the sound the ball made on the paddle   Pong  marked the beginning of Atari's legacy as a video game legend and was one of the first games to allow gaming in friends. Nintendo Entertainment System 1985 : Designed to look like a household appliance (and  not  like a video game console), the NES was the first console released post  1984-tech crash . The console was  sold in the USA with  the classic games,  Super Mario Bros.  and  Duck Hunt , along with the accompanying lightgun, robotic operation buddy (R.O.B.), and original controllers. Reaching its height of popularity during the '80s, the NES paved the way for the Japanese gaming giant. NES is an example of how gaming has mixed western and eastern culture. The biggest...
Independent Film - I, Daniel Blake Independent films are more artistic and more about cultural expression than mainstream films are. Independent films usually have a smaller budget and less people involved. Independent films make you think and ask questions more. Since less money is put into independent films profit isn't a main goal. Ken Loach directed I Daniel Blake, he works for sixteen films, a small independent production company he started. Sixteen films partnered with a French company called why not productions, who are a fan of loach, they helped make the film. Eone productions distributed and marketed the film and neither sixteen films or why not productions are not vertically integrated so they can't distribute. they still needed more funding so they got that form the bbc and bfi. Ken Loach focuses on the niche genre of social realism and this is the genre of his movies. It isn't a hugely popular genre and doesn't do that well in cinema compared t...
